Thursday evening, we decided to take a little break from all the crazy packing, and spend some time with some of our favorite people. Our move happened so fast... 2 weeks from the time they made an offer until we moved. It was crazy. We knew there was no way that we would be able to see everyone that we wanted to say good-bye to before we left. There just wasn't time.
So... we invited lots of people over for a super simple going away get-together the night before the UHaul came! We had water and lemonade (thanks for the coolers, Gina!) and lots of people brought cookies to share.
Gretchen wore a pink velvet fairy dress and some yellow bridesmaid high heels...
Several people commented that they missed the "formal attire" part of the invitation. It was optional. =)
Superhero capes were optional, too...
We had such a good time and were so blessed by the number of people who showed up to say good-bye. We counted up almost 50 friends, neighbors, co-workers and church friends. All of these people were so special to us.
For 3 hours, we all just stood around talking. And wondering why we didn't do this sooner. Why do people wait until they are leaving to celebrate being together?
Lots of kids running all around...
We all enjoyed one last evening with some of the friends who are so, so special to us...
Most of the kids moved inside to the W!! when it started to get dark outside.
Gretchen got a sweet kiss good-bye from her friend, Raiyne...
Thank you to all who came! We loved getting to see you and say good-bye before we left town!
God blessed us with some wonderful people in our lives and we were so thankful for all of you!
You can read my friend, Danielle's sweet post about the night here. So sweet!
