lists.

The kids were so excited to come downstairs the other morning and see this...
One of my sweet friends made a list with her kids this year, too. But she was super nice and let them help with the writing. I'm not that nice. They help me come up with ideas for the list, but I do all the writing. Good job, Danielle, for focusing on the process, not the product. =)

I've always been very listy. I love crossing things off a list. One of my first days of summer break I sat down and wrote out all my lists. I put on Facebook "Is it weird that making all my summer lists relaxes me? Because it seems weird." I have a lot of lists. And there are a lot of things on each of my lists. But there is something calming about taking those thoughts out of my head and putting them on paper. They are organized (and pretty, thanks to my fun Sharpies!) and help me be more intentional. (Or at least that is the goal, anyway.)

This is my main To-Do List... It hangs in a visible place and is easy to refer to and cross things off. I make a new one each week. (Thank you, Target $1 bin for the happy turquoise clipboard!) I still make it a goal to cross 2 things off my list each day. Even if they are little things. (and there are really important things on there like "watch DVR." I think I have 4 episodes of "Criminal Minds" to catch up on!)

But this is my favorite. My notebook full of lists. The lovely green notebook that my organizery twin, Danielle introduced me to. (She has an orange one. And this isn't the same Danielle that let her kids help make their summer list. Britton isn't old enough to handle Sharpies at this point, and even if she was, I'm pretty sure Danielle is going to be like me and want to control the list making activity. I don't think that's a bad thing.) =)
This notebook is little... 5x8 or something like that. It's the perfect size. (and so happy to look at!) Inside are all the lists that help keep my unorganized brain feel organized. Because once it's written down in here, I don't have to remember it anymore.

Yep, you read that right... Decrapification. That's my goal for this summer... to decrapify this house. I'm almost done with the upstairs. I spent hours in our room yesterday, going through my closet, dresser, bookshelf, everything. I was inspired by another blog that said "If you don't use it, or love it, get rid of it." So that's what I'm doing. There is a lot of stuff in this house that we don't use or love. Lots.

Ideas for an upcoming project...

Even lists for lunch and snack ideas. (I struggle with lunch ideas during the summer...)

Fun ideas or quotes that I just want to remember...

And projects. Lots and lots of projects. I need to update this list, actually. I have new projects to add and some to cross off. My 2010 blog books are DONE! One arrived yesterday! (and I showed some serious willpower by making myself finish the project I was working on before I tore open the box!)

Are you a list maker? Do you write things that you've already done on your list... just so you can cross them off? It's okay to admit it. =)

Dang!

I am so impressed.
I make lists occasionally... on scrap paper... that I lose... I'm not very organized.

Your handwriting is so cute and it looks perfect on all your lists.

I am a crazy list maker! I carry a clipboard with me everywhere....it contains my whole life! (Hope I never misplace it). My fellow elem. teachers tease me about my clipboard. If I see you at the Hillsboro pool this summer, I'll say hi and introduce myself as a fellow list maker:) Wish my handwriting was as neat as yours....

Decrapify - didn't know that was a word but I really like it. Maybe I can make you some PJ's and you can make me and book - I also love having lists - Russ just shakes his head.

This post just makes me so HAPPY! Nothing more exciting to a fellow list-maker than seeing someone else's lists! :) And you are right...Britton and new baby can help me come up with ideas for the list, but I will do the writing! Ha!

Wow!! Thank you so much for all these ideas! I am going to make a summer list like that tomorrow with my kids. (I will do the writing as well) I will also purchase one of those little binders. I wish you could come and help me make some lists!! I need to go write on my list to make some lists. ;)

I just bought a clipboard like that! (and a couple of the smaller ones because they were too cute) I LOVE that Spaghetti Eis is on both of our lists - maybe we can have a crossing off ceremony when we get together?! =)

I love lists too! If I don't write it down, it doesn't seem to get done. You're lists are so happy though, mine aren't that cute. Maybe I'd get more done faster if they were cuter to look at ;0)

Amy, I hope you don't mind, but I shared your summer list idea on my blog. :)

We do the summer reading program at our library too! It's one of the best gifts I give my kids...their love for their local library. Forget that Kindle and Nook, I want a real BOOK with a spine I can hold in my hand and actually turn a page! Love all your lists, so fun! I do lists too...gotta keep working on that one that keeps haunting me!

You've inspired me!! I do better if I get it out of my head and written down too, but my lists are everywhere -- on the backs of envelopes, lost in a pile . . . I'm gonna get a little notebook and maybe a clipboard -- I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of crossing at least two things off my list each day. I might even get the kids started on that!! What a feeling of accomplishment! Thanks!!!

Were did you get the binder?

I ordered the binder off of Amazon.com. Just type in mini binders. It's made by Russell and Hazel. :)

So, once again, my goal is to be a little Amy-Jonesy-like :) I'm working on some more lists. I just keep losing them or spilling on them. I've got to get more organized! Perhaps a happy little notebook with do the trick :) Want to go shopping soon?
