dairy.

A sweet friend from church, Kerry, and her husband run this dairy east of town. We thought it would be a fun place to visit with all the cousins!

These are all little city kids, but they've been around cows before. Grandpa and Daddy both have cows we have spent lots of time around. But.. Daddy and Grandpa's cows aren't quite as BIG as these cows. Even I was surprised at how big they are!

The tree house that Kerry's son built was a definite highlight for the kids...

Kerry was up early, early in the morning, making cheese curds! (and chocolate chips cookies! Perfect to go with big glasses of milk!) I was a definite fan of the cheese! Yummy cheddar (I think?) and jalapeno!

After our snack, we went back to the barn to see how they milk the cows. (We didn't actually see it done, though.) They milk them twice a day, at 4:30. I may try to take the kids out some afternoon. (In my world, 4:30 only comes around once a day!)

Only 3 of the kids were brave enough to actually try it...

This one may have involved lots of shrieking and squealing...

These two obviously weren't some of the brave ones. (This picture reminds me so much of Sophie and her friends on Frog Day in 2nd grade!)

Thanks so much, Kerry, for letting us come visit! We all had a great time!!

What a fun and creative thing to do with the cousins! I love all the pics. I've never been to a dairy but now I feel like I have. I most especially love the family pic. What a gorgeous family!

We went out last week and come home with milk, butter, cheese curds and buttermilk. It was all yummy and local. I think we're going to make it a weekly trip.

As a kid, I hated cheese curds. I think I would like them now, but haven't tried 'em in years. Might have to make a trip out there soon.
I like the family pic too!

I've lived around cows all my life and never once have I been brave enough to touch one. ;o)
