goals.

I've never been big on New Year's Resolutions. At least not big on keeping them.
I love to think about things I want to change... things I want to do better... new ways to organize/parent/discipline/teach... dream about all the ways that I could have it "more together."
But I'm not always good on the follow through. (Which will be obvious in just a minute.)

I wrote this post about "tweaks" back in 2010. I ran across it the other day and realized... all of these things still apply to me. I still need to do all of these things. Dang.

1. Exercise... not because I want to, but because I really need to.

2. Plan meals and shop smart. (This is going to be really important once we are out in the country!)

3. Say "yes" more often. But only to the important people... my kids and Corey.

4. Follow my own rule about being "a polite listener" and look at my kids when they are talking to me.

5. Create a budget and work on following it. (Found a program that I think I'm going to LOVE!) (Um... yeah. I still have that program. I have paid for that program for 2 years now. And we don't use it. How's that for awesome budgeting??)

6. Pray more. And more intentionally.

7. Get acquainted with Him again... because I've drifted and He misses me.

8. Scrapbook... because I love to do it and it makes me happy... and I haven't done it in over a year.

I have more goals for 2013, too.
Lots of plans for organizing and decluttering. At home and in my classroom.
We're starting a new system for chores/behavior/attitude/rewards with the kids.
Some new ideas and things I'd like to try.
Big dreams for a farmhouse.
But also trying to be content and happy with less.
How do you find that balance (hey, look! It's my blog title!) between wanting to dream big dreams, but wanting to be content with what you have?

Someone let me know if you figure that out, please.

That's exactly why I don't make resolutions, because I know I will never follow through. This way I don't disappoint myself. Ha!

You can do it! Heck, it's got to be easier to exercise, plan meals, budget etc. when you aren't trying to find new jobs, sell a house and move, right? Hopefully you are finding that time moves a little slower in the country and leaves room for more. Theoretically anyway... As I sit here in the country procrastinating from doing anything and reading blogs instead, ha ha!
