tuesday random.

My baby was sick last week. She threw up for the first time... all over her crib. Poor thing had no idea what was happening to her. And I had no idea so much yuck could come out of such a little person. Holy cow.

After a day and a half of snuggling, she was back to her spunky, happy self.

She told me the other day that her tummy hurt and that she wanted me to "feel better it."

I stayed home with her on Friday. My note from my sub said that from 8:00-8:45 went really well. Just a little bit of hair pulling, etc. Um... yeah. That doesn't sound like "really well" to me.

Maintaining his status as "the hardest working guy I know," Corey started a second job. He's been spending several of his afternoon/evenings and weekends at a nearby feedlot.

See him in the middle there? With the big stick? He comes home with lots of stories about people getting kicked and knocked around. Fabulous.  Sophie told Corey she might want to work at a feedlot some day. When he reminded her that she doesn't like cows, she asked if there was such a thing as a kitty lot.

We went to take Daddy a sweatshirt one weekend and stopped to watch for a bit. Dressed oh-so-appropriately for farm life, once again. (Gretchen's church shoes with jeans/no socks are cute, but I think my favorite is Lawson's backwards shorts with cowboy boots look.)

Lawson wears his pants backwards at least 2 days each week. I point it out to him, but he doesn't seem to care. And somehow still manages to put his hands in his pockets.

Sophie and Lawson heard on the radio that the Giants won the Super Bowl (we might have been watching High School Musical 2 and 3 while it was on...) Sophie said, "Of course the Giants won! They're huge-er than the other team!" Um... yeah. They aren't real giants, darlin'.

Marley is still sleeping on the couch at night. Which is not awesome. We really need to figure out how to break that... without having to put laundry baskets all over the couch every night.

Sophie and Lawson were begging me to go visit Grandma sometime soon. Why? Because they really want to eat grapefruit. I told them that we can actually buy grapefruit here. They were shocked. But they still want to go visit Grandma.

Gretchen sees something outside one of our windows that she thinks is a snake. She'll look out the window and talk on and on about the snake. Luckily she says it's a nice snake.

I've been working my way through these lately. And by "working my way through them," I mean reading each one in a day. (Although I'm on Day 2 for Mockingjay.) I told Corey the plot of The Hunger Games and he wanted to know what was wrong with me.

When Gretchen says "You're welcome," it sounds like "Gelcome." So cute. And she says it a lot. She's a polite little thing. She also says her pants and pajamas have polka pots on them. Way cuter than polka dots. =)

I love my 1st grade team. We are all at such different stages of life: single, married with no kids, married with 3 kids. I'm the old lady of the group. But we have so much fun together. They make me smile. And this year was the first time in 7 years that we haven't had changes in our 1st grade team. 7 years!!

I have a new niece! She was born today and I have only seen pictures of her on my phone. But oh. my. cuteness. Parent/Teacher conferences were tonight, so we had to wait to go visit. Can't wait to meet her tomorrow!

she still fits.

Gretchen realized this week that she still fits in one of her favorite little hiding places...

 Silly, silly girl.

grandpa.

I'm pretty sure they will always remember, but just in case...

Sophie and Lawson have a grandpa that can't usually make it to their Saturday sports games. Too many surgeries and Grandpa is too good at what he does. So instead... Grandpa comes to their practices. He drives an hour... one way... to watch a 45 minute practice. Then sometimes stays to eat dinner with us (when Mommy is organized enough to have it already cooking before practice). Then drives an hour back home... after dark. Just because he cares. And he wants them to know he cares.

What lucky little kids.

basketball.

We've been spending our Saturdays here lately...

Look at that amazing form... =)

They don't officially keep score, but we pretty much got creamed at every single game. Bummer.
He still had fun, though.
And is already looking forward to indoor soccer!

random.

The kids wrote Christmas thank you notes the week after Christmas. I'm big into thank you notes. Now they are, too. I love that.

Spoiled much?? Corey came downstairs early one morning this week and found Marley sound asleep... stretched out on the couch. She used to always sleep upstairs, but she hasn't been for a couple weeks. Now we know why.

Someone was playing in Mommy's jewelry the other day. She came downstairs wearing my two favorite necklaces. She already has good taste.

Mommy was desperate for a little peace and quiet a couple weekends ago. It was cold, cold, cold outside.

Oreo pops! Thank you, Pinterest!

These cute little organizer bins are at Wal-Mart for $2! And I only bought one. Corey should be proud of me.

Corey started this project one Saturday. Pulled out all the Tupperware... started trying to match up lids... then left it for me to finish. We now have organized Tupperware. (actually cheap Gladware/Ziploc)

You might have too many Pop Tarts if you feel the need to organize them. Or maybe it's just more fun to pull them out of a cute basket.

Someone finally decided to try ice cream! And she likes it! Crazy baby. We've been trying to get her to eat it for over a year. Sherbet is her favorite... she's her momma's girl.

Miss Carrie gave me this cute red tray and button magnets for Christmas. I LOVE it! It's hanging on the side of one of our kitchen cabinets, being used right now for our meal list. Two of these are Pinterest meals... and they may have been pinned by my husband. (He's discovered the awesomeness of Pinterest and may have been ridiculed by several of his friends on Facebook because of it.)  =)
The kids both told me... at different times... that what I should do is write the meal we are having on the day that we are having it! Isn't that a great idea?! =) Unfortunately, this momma isn't organized enough for that. This is how I meal plan... just a list of 7-10 meals that will last us close to 2 weeks. Every Friday is pizza/movie night.

Miss Carrie is leaving me. I'm so very sad. Not just me... but all her families she cleans for. I love coming home to a clean house every other week. Tuesday's just won't be as happy anymore.
