sophie's party.

Since we were in Abilene for the weekend, we decided to celebrate Sophie's birthday early and have her party at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We're trying a new tradition... just doing a "friend party" every other year. Last year she had her "Fancy Nancy" party and Lawson had his swim party. So this year, we'll just do family parties.

Sophie helped Grandma decorate the dining room and made place cards for everyone.

She originally wanted to make her own cake with Grandma and decorate it herself. But when they went shopping, Sophie saw this cake...

Sophie had asked so sweetly if "since we're having my party in Abilene and Maren lives in Abilene... could she come to my party at Grandma and Grandpa's house?!" How could I say no?

Grandma made her a Tinkerbell costume for her birthday and Halloween.

Meagan and I share a birthday... who would have ever thought when we were growing up that our daughter's would be at birthday parties together!

I'm excited for her 9th birthday party with friends, though. I've already started planning it! (Which for me, just means thinking about it. I'm not one of these over achieving moms who starts planning months in advance. A few days in advance is more my style.) It's going to be great and she's going to LOVE it!

I really like your idea of doing a friend party every other year.

And I hope you show pictures of the costume! I'm making a Tinker Bell this year, too. A smaller one, but...it's cute! :)
