coffee.

It's been a busy week.
Lots going on.
Nothing fun, just stuff.
I'm exhausted.
Trying to cut back on pop.
I'm getting lectures in the teacher's lounge about how bad pop is. Diet pop, especially.
And here I thought I was being healthier when I switched to Diet Dr. Pepper a few years ago.
I just have 1 each day. Sometimes 2.
I love the taste and the fizz and the flavor.
But I drink it for the caffeine. I need the caffeine. (and then tonight my neighbor tells me how bad caffeine is for you!)

So I'm trying to learn to like coffee.
I've had a travel mug full the last 2 mornings.
I'm using french vanilla creamer and some sugar.
I'm not loving it, but not hating it either.
Any suggestions from coffee lovers out there?
How can I learn to love this stuff??

And just because she's the cutest thing ever...

  1. Drinking decaf? Careful, coffee is so horrible for your teeth and breath. I'm not sure this is a better option.

  3. Awww...thanks for the smiles! See, I just know we'd be friends if I lived closer...I love Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper. I have heard if you're going to drink pop, drink the real stuff and not diet...I don't know, I think everything in moderation and if you take care of yourself in other areas of your life...a little bit of pop isn't going to hurt you imho...it's certainly been around for a long, long time! I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm not able to help you in that category unfortunately....unless it's a Java Chip Frappachino light from Starbucks, that's about all I like coffee related!

  4. Well, I have heard mixed reviews on caffeine. I love the fat-free hazlenut creamer. Also, mocha. I recently learned to make my own at home. Yum! I love diet pop too, it's hard to give it up!

  5. I'm finishing my 12 pack of Diet Coke and then I'm done with it. I'm going to try iced tea as an alternative. Home made not canned! I only have one DC a day at lunch so I'm hoping the transition will be easy. I have about 8 Diet Cokes left so next week that's it. Good luck to you!

  6. I heard all that bad stuff about diet pop this week too. =( There was something on the Today Show about it. I love Diet Dr. Pepper, but I am trying to cut back as well. I also love coffee though, so I still have that as a source of caffeine. =) You might try cinnamon hazlenut creamer. It's yummy!

  7. I am with you. I HATE coffee. I usually drink pop, but have been trying to not drink it either. It's hard. Good luck! I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for you!

  9. Like my doctor told, everything in moderation is fine. I prefer diet coke and he said 2 is fine even while I was pregnant. Enjoy.

  10. OOoooh, I LOVE coffee. I'm probably addicted (except I drink decaf...) I LOVE my new milk frother. I use that and a little sugar many mornings for a delicious treat!! Try it!

  11. How about strong tea, it has health benefits especially when enjoyed "clear" or maybe with a squeeze of lemon.
In hot weather I've started drinking plain selzer and that satisfies my need for the fizz and again lemon can be added for flavor.
Did you read recently how the caramel coloring in cola products is carcinogenic?

  12. Oh, as a p.s. folks could google aspartame and see that it gets converted in your body to formaldehyde, that would be your embalming fluid! Now, this was told to me a few years ago, I know I've since read it, but I'll confess I haven't recently googled it to be able to cite scientifc proof.

  13. Do you like the smell? I used to love the smell but hate the taste. I learned to love the taste by starting out drinking it with really rich and/or chocolate-y desserts b/c it just goes so well with sweet! Now I can easily drink a cup of it, love it, crave the taste and even drink decaf for the taste (I will admit I LOVE half-and-half in it whenever I can get it though!).

  14. I use half and half, flavored creamer, and a pack of sweetener in my coffee. (A huge cup.)

Not good for me, I know... but it tastes soooo good.

Right now I have Almond Joy creamer. Yeah. Yum.

  15. Just drink it black. You'll get used to it soon enough.

  16. Well I drink coffee every morning, and a diet coke every afternoon so maybe I am not the best to comment... but I agree with what others have said about coffee -- just keep drinking it and eventually you will come to like it one way or another. And since caffeine is addicting... you won't just like it, you'll NEEEEEEED it! Yum!

  17. So...I've never been able to drink coffee either...Blech! Got really bad about "needing" a pop each day after little M arrived, but recently started drinking flavored sparkling water...no caffeine, but the fizz keeps me moving. Tea (hot or cold)is also a good option if you have to have the caffeine.

  18. I am in the same predicament and I think the only solution is Dr. Pepper flavored coffee. (we should invent that...)
