random.

** I almost forgot to enroll my children for school. Which is awesome... since I work there and all. Luckily I remembered on the day that they were due.

** Jillian Michaels says I am well on my way to being "shredded." I think she's full of it.

** Have push-ups always been so. freaking. hard?! They are killing me.

** I go back to school in 10 days. Boo. So not ready. But I'm guessing that my house will stay a little cleaner.

** Lawson starts Kindergarten in 16 days. I have no idea how I'm going to get him to Jessi's at 11:00 am for the first 7 weeks of school. (Assuming he gets put in the morning class.) If he's in the afternoon, I have no idea how I'll get him to school at 12:00. Minor details.

** I hid from the Schwan's man yesterday. But I'm pretty sure he saw me hiding.

** I did Day 4 of my 30 Day Shred DVD the other day. And then rewarded myself by finishing off a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. Awesome. Those pounds are just going to drop off, I can tell.

** Some people on America's Funniest Home videos the other night switched a computer mouse with an eel head. Seriously. Kid sat down, grabbed the mouse/eel and screamed. I think I might have passed out. Gross.

** I couldn't sleep the other night and came downstairs to read for awhile. Shut off the lamp and headed for the stairs at 2 am. Tripped over a giant dog at the bottom of the stairs and scared myself to death. Freaked the dog out pretty good, too.

** I read something the other day on "blog etiquette." It said you should always post pictures to make things more interesting for your readers. Oops. Sorry, readers.

** Speaking of readers... I've been very curious lately as to who all reads this... so if you do read this, and you have any questions for me, this is your chance to ask. Since I'm so super exciting and all. And since I'm going to have a lot less time to blog in about 10 days. Anything you want to know??

  4. love your blog :) i found it by way of The Macs when little Cora got sick... i've stayed connected to "the awesome Kansas bloggers" since... :) seriously, i could move there b/c you all sound so absolutely awesome and wonderful...

i used to be a teacher...i resigned in June of '09 after my daughter was born...i wouldn't have ever believed i would ever leave "my identify," but somethin' about giving birth to a baby changes your heart! :)

i think your kids are absolutely adorable...seriously... :)

    i have questions... :)

    1) how do you balance being a teacher and a mom? how do you not lose it on the kids every chance you get when you come home? how do you get grading done with little ones (and not fall asleep while doing it) :) (i couldn't do it, obviously :) - i struggled with it a lot.)

    2) how was the transition when you had Lawson (#2)... what were the biggest challenges? blessings? eye-opening?

    3) what ever happened with your friend who got pregnant with twin girls and her husband was in a tragic accident and lost his life?? i think about her a lot...

    4) what are the most challenging behaviors that you remember from your kids when they were 2 years old? :) what methods of "redirection" did you use?

    5) what is your favorite food/meal? :)

    :) that's enough...don't want to pry too much! :)
thanks for your blog...i sure will miss you writing as regularly as you do when you go back to school... :)
i hope your class is as WONDERFUL as last year...and don't worry about the details for kindergarten...i have a feeling everything will be ok :)

    :)

  5. I read your blog and love it also. The kids are adorable. I came upon your website through Cora's blog when she was diagnosed and in the hospital. We live in Miami and my husband would love to move to Kansas. Ever since we met he said he wanted to move to Kansas. He is from New York.

I've been meaning to ask you how your friend is who lost her husband and was pregnant with twins?

    Keep blogging.

  6. I have no idea how I found your blog. I just click from one to another, then save in my favorites the ones I like. Anyway, I hide from the Schwans guy frequently! I did breakdown yesterday and bought ice cream. Are you reading anything in particular right now. Do you have a favorite tv show? How did you meet your husband?

  7. i will miss you when you go back to work. i like hearing from you more in the summer. and it's funny how i truly consider you a friend...even though we've never met.

i love jillian. even if i can't do that stuff on the shred, she still makes me feel "hard core." and i'm also suspicious that she's the cause of my hip injury...so i'm nervous to try it again since i have "healed." one day...i did like her video!

  8. How did you come up with your children's names?

  9. Enjoy your last days of summer from one teacher, mom and kansas blogger to another. I've also been there done that on the kid transporation issue, currently trying to figure that out for this school year myself. Stay cool and enjoy these last few days. Don't forget it's fair weekend, still time to bake something super simple with those kiddos!

  10. I don't really have a question for you at this point, but if I think of one, I'll just ask you in person :) But no, push-ups don't get any easier, in my opinion...Sorry to break that news to you.

  11. You know I read your blog regularly. I am so glad that after all these years we have been able to reconnect-even if it is just via blogging. I have to say, I never imagined 14 yrs ago when we went to Christmas Formal and Prom us 5 girls and our dates that 2 of the couples would get married and have 3 kids (thankfully one of those was not me:)

Only question- how is Lawson starting school affecting you? Personally I am a wreck. I am hoping it's just because its my oldest. If I could put him in a bubble and not have him go- I would! I know it's silly- just really struggling with it!

  12. Hi! I found you through the Macs blog also. You inspire me -- I'm a working mom too and it's nice to know I'm not the only one trying to find the balance! Where did your friends get the big flower rug they gave to you? I love it too! It's awesome! Also, where did you end up getting the outfit Gretchen wore in your kids' pics?

    Hugs from Texas,

  13. I love, love, LOVE your blog. Your family is so beautiful and I can't get enough of sweet Gretchen! I'm curious to know the following: what is your favorite thing to do with your kids either together or separately? What is your favorite stage of bringing up children? What do you like best about teaching? Keep up the great blogging...you're so real and I enjoy that so much.

  14. love seeing that sweet Gretchen on your blog and seeing how she's out-doing Marin :o) oh-and I actually think push ups do get a little easier...just keep pushing on through! Try the 40 minute Jillian workout called 'no more troublezones' i think i like that way better-it doesn't kill you in 20 minutes! :o)

  15. Amy, I love reading your blog! I get a lot of ideas from it! And I agree...I never like push ups, but I'm pretty sure there were never as hard as they are right now! Good luck with that! Maybe I'll see you at our "All District Convication!!!"

  16. No questions at this time, but I've asked you several before. Enjoy your blog too!

  17. I love your blog! I found it through the Macs too when Cora was sick! Do you have any good recipes for quick dinners? I am a working mom of 2 and sometimes struggle finding good recipes for quick dinners! Also what are some of your favorite stores??

  18. The only push up I mess with is the wearable kind! ;-)

  19. Found your blog through Cora as well. I love your outlook on motherhood, it is very much like my own! I copied your growth charts and my husband measures my 3 year old once a month since I made it - makes me sad that he grows so much each month!

Your blog gives me a glimpse into my old stomping grounds (harvey county) and I can't wait to get back to that area - 3 years!!

My question is how did you decide to have 3 kids? We have 2 and I go back and forth whether we are "done" or not. My husband is more firm on being done than I am.

  20. I read you! :)

And Jillian is the devil, I'm convinced.
