rug.

In May of 2008, a friend of mine moved to a new house and posted a picture on her blog of her new, funky rug. I commented how much I loved it.

Two years later, they are moving again, and she emails me, telling me that her happy flower rug needs a new home... she remembered that I liked it... would I be interested? Her only condition: I had to use it and love it!

I knew the "loving it" part wouldn't be a problem... but I didn't know about being able to use it right away. It is big (10x14) and happy and colorful and full of flowers... and our living room furniture is plaid. It's getting worn in several places and I've thought about slipcovers or getting them recovered... but it won't happen for a few years. She said that even if I couldn't use it for a few years, if I would love it... it was mine.

So we brought it home... rolled it out a bit... and a couple friends convinced me that the fun, happy flowers worked with my plaid furniture! I could use it now!

So... here is our living room before:

Look at these happy, fun flowers! And look at how big this rug is! We had to empty the living room to get it spread out! What is amazing to me is that every color in this rug... is in my living room and dining room. (Our dining room walls are orange.) And everyone who has seen this rug says that it just "looks like me." It is thick and plush and perfect for us!

So look at our living room now:

One more amazing thing... if this rug was even 1 inch longer, it wouldn't have fit. Do you see that pillar in the right corner? Do you see how the rug touches that pillar? It is against the wall on the other end. It's like it was made just for us!

Tami... I absolutely love it!!
I can't thank you enough for thinking of me!
We love, love, love it!!

  1. That really is super fun! I love mixing it up like that. :) I also love your green armoire. So pretty! My daughter would love to have orange dining room walls. It's her favorite color. :)
